Volunteer
Be part of the magic!
The Glove Theatre is a predominantly volunteer-run organization — it has been ever since this community saved it from demolition in the 1990s. Every usher, docent, box office helper, and stagehand is part of how a 112-year-old theatre stays open, affordable, and full of free programming for Gloversville. If you sign up, you're not filling a shift — you're one of the people actually keeping this place running.
Our growing family of volunteers is made up of community members from all backgrounds and walks of life — students, seniors, business owners, and more.
The Glove is always on the lookout for outgoing, energetic volunteers for:
Box Office
Concessions
Check-in / Ushering
Museum Docent
Technical (Lights, Sound, etc.)
Clean-up / Set-up
Special Projects
Why Volunteer With Us?
Make a real difference — as a volunteer-run theatre, your time isn't a nice-to-have, it's how The Glove operates
Build your resume — great experience for careers in live entertainment, hospitality, theatre, event management, or working with historic institutions
Flexible scheduling — mainly weekends and evenings around our events
Earn community service hours — great for students fulfilling school requirements
No experience needed — on-site training provided before each shift
Once you apply, you'll be invited to select the events you're interested in through our Sign Up Genius form. After you're confirmed for a shift, just plan to arrive one hour before showtime for your on-site training.
Please note: some volunteer roles involve standing for extended periods and occasional light lifting.
