2026 GloveArts Summer: A Season Recap
What a summer! Thanks to the generosity of our donors, dozens of local students spent their summer on our stage — for free. Here's a look back at what your support made possible.
Summer Musical (Grades 1–12): Madagascar–KIDS
June 29 – July 12, 2026
This summer's GloveArts Summer Youth Musical brought DreamWorks' Madagascar — A Musical Adventure KIDS to life, following Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria from Central Park Zoo to King Julien's madcap Madagascar. Over two weeks, our young performers rehearsed, built a full production, and brought the house down with three sold-out public performances July 10–12.
We're grateful to Jennifer Flynn, who returned as Lead Teaching Artist for the ninth summer in a row since 2017, for once again guiding this cast to a performance the whole community turned out for.

Theatre Institute (Ages 11–18)
Session 1: July 20 – 31 · Session 2: August 3 – 14
This year's Theatre Institute offered students two free two-week intensives, each culminating in a public Showcase:
"A-5-6-7-8" — Classic Broadway: Students explored the Golden Age of musical theatre — Rodgers and Hammerstein, Sondheim, Hamlisch, and Porter.
"Millennial Musicals": Students dove into modern Broadway favorites, from Hairspray and Wicked to Waitress, Rock of Ages, and Six.
Both sessions were led by Jamie Eacker Jennings, who returned this year as Lead Teaching Artist, and both closed with Showcase performances where students spotlighted the skills and confidence they built over the two weeks.
“I have seen incredible changes in [my daughter’s] attitude - a 360 degree turnaround - at home in just these two weeks. I attribute this positive change directly to the Institute!”

Meet Your Lead Teaching Artists
JENNIFER FLYNN
Jennifer Flynn is a lifelong resident of Fulton County and works as an English teacher at Gloversville Middle School. There, she directs shows for both the middle and high schools. Each year, she directs between two and four shows for the school district and community theaters. Flynn performed with the and is a Board member of Colonial Little Theatre. She has also performed with Foothills Family Productions. She has been directing the summer children’s musicals at The Glove since 2017.

JAMIE EACKER JENNINGS
Jennings is a Gloversville native and a veteran of the Glove Theatre's summer shows dating back to the 2000s. Last summer she Choreographed and was an Assistant in Pirates of Penzance for the Glove Summer Institute. She is a graduate of the American Musical & Dance Academy (AMDA) in New York City and has had a successful career as an Equity Actress in the MD/DC/VA. area where she has performed in 30 plus shows. She has gone on two National Tours with the Kennedy Center and performed with Marvin Hamlisch as Soloist in NSO Pops. Jamie has also performed at Ford’s Theatre (Christmas Carol), Studio Theatre (Grey Gardens), and Signature Theatre (Titanic) just to name a few. She regularly performed at the Tony Award winning Signature Theatre in VA, most notably, she was in the original cast and performed as Dance Captain/Swing understudying for Heidi Blickenstaff (Katherine) in Freaky Friday.

Registration is first come / first serve. Registration is capped at 100 for the Summer Musical and 30 for each of the Institute 2-week sessions.
